Ultra-Low-Current and accurate EIS
BioLogic Ultra-Low Current options (ULC and ULC-z) lower the base current range from 1 μA to 1 pA allowing measurement down to 100 fA. Thanks to its resolution of only 80 aA (on the 1 pA range), these options ensure exceptional precision for ultra-sensitive measurements.
Based on a high sensitivity electrometer located at the end of the cable, as close as possible to your sample, you can perform high-impedance EIS measurements with ease and reliability (up to 3 MHz, from 1 TΩ to 1 mΩ).
This option is compatible with all Premium Range Potentiostats and is offered in two variations to fit your needs: ULC (standard) and ULC-z (specific EIS measurements).
Which ULC option should I use for my application?
By default, the standard ULC can be used for both DC and EIS measurements.
The ULC-z has been especially designed for the most demanding applications, such as measurements of high impedance coatings, polymers, dielectrics, or capacitive sensors… In these cases, the sample environment can have an impact on the measurement, which could lead to parasitic EIS phase jumps. The ULC-z simplifies these measurements by eliminating the need for shielding or active guarding. While less modular than the standard ULC option, it is specifically designed for EIS measurements on these types of samples.
